In Feng Shui the five elements fire, water, metal, earth and wood are mutually related to the eight directions of the compass. Together they show us how to activate your luck. Each direction is associated with an element and an area of your life. The eight directions are:

South
In the South sector resides the element of fire. It brings recognition, fame and a good name. To energise the South, two powerful symbols can be placed here – the Horse and the Phoenix. The Horse brings speed and the Phoenix success. Bright lights and red coloured objects magnify the success and recognition. Plants in the south also bring good luck as wood produces fire.

North
In the North sector resides the element of water. This sector activates career and business luck. To energise the North, place small water features e.g. an aquarium (with 9 fish) or a painting showing water. Since metal activates water, metal energy can also be used.

East
In this sector resides the element of wood. East brings good health and wealth. To activate this sector place an image of a dragon holding a pearl in its hand. Make free use of plants with broad green leaves near water. It is the ultimate symbol of luck and good fortune.
Tip: Do not use too many lights as it exhausts the energy of the sector.
West
In this sector resides the element of metal. West brings descendants luck. Activate this sector by placing varieties of gold coins with square holes in the middle. Crystals are also good energies as the earth produces metal.
Tip: Do not place water in the west as it exhausts the energy of this sector.
South West
In this sector resides the element of earth. This sector brings romance and relationship luck. One of the best methods of activating the southwest is bright lights. Turn on the lights for at least three hours every night. Another powerful symbol is the double happiness symbol. This creates the luck of marriage. Crystals, pebble stones are other activators for this sector.
Tip: Do not have metallic objects in the southwest as it exhausts the energy of this corner.
North West
In this sector resides the element of metal. Northwest brings luck and help for the patriarch. To activate this sector hang chimes and place metal objects like bells and singing bowls made of seven metals. A metallic box buried in the northwest of your garden benefits your patriarch.

South East

In this sector resides the element of earth. It brings education luck. Use crystals to activate this corner. They attract scholastic luck. A crystal globe is a powerful energizer and so also a dragon carp image.
